CTO, METRO VR STUDIOS

​

Lead the creative and technical development for indie Metro VR Studios, making high-quality games for virtual reality on Oculus, SteamVR and flat screen PC. Member Oculus Start, Microsoft VR and PlayStation Partner. In 2020 released Orion13, an acclaimed, feature-length VR sword fighting game available worldwide on the Oculus and Steam platforms, followed in 2021 by the VR Music Video 'Me To You' for LA-based artists Matt Bunsen and Dani Poppitt.

 

Other projects include 2 original games released in English, Chinese and Japanese on Android and iPhone for NOLO VR headset manufacturer, a practical demo for ‘Cooperative AI’ robotics leader Brillianetor, and VR projection software for the Autism care industry. Currently developing original game titles, and an in-classroom educational VR system for STEM education.

MANAGER, STINGRAY BODY ART

​

Responsible for the business design, growth, and day-to-day leadership of Boston’s premier Tattoo, Piercing and Body Art emporium in Boston MA. Mr. Matalon led the company’s growth from startup to 22 employees and becoming the most popular, largest and highest-grossing body modification shop in New England.

PRODUCER, METROPOLITAN PICTURES

Lead a digital media studio through production of three feature-length films released into worldwide distribution and multiple languages including Blockbuster and Netflix. Produced, directed, and edited for two original television series aired into more than 4M homes each, receiving more than 50 weeks of combined prime-time airplay, plus dozens of music videos, TV commercials, industrial videos, and award-winning short films.

President and CTO responsible for developing multimedia, web, e-com and database-driven internet systems for top-tier media & entertainment brands, including Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, U2, SONY, EMI, NYNEX, Ben & Jerry’s, AOL Canada, Continental Cablevision and more. 

 

Author & Designer of the very first, best-selling, and award-winning “Online Merchant” E-commerce software sold in CompUSA, BestBuy & Staples. Designer of the “BuyItOnline.com” original shopping portal, receiving Domestic and International Patents for innovations in Electronic Shopping Carts and Digital Coupons.

As President, helped grow the company from a 3-person startup to 110 employees, raising more than $8M in venture capital, and the 2001 acquisition by publicly traded Surefire Commerce in a transaction valued at more than $70M USD, where Mr. Matalon continued to serve as Chief Information Officer for more than 400 employees located in 5 offices across 4 countries.

Elected President for the past 13 years, expanding non-profit's operating budget over 300% annually, developed major functions and events, and helped increase organizational scope to include advocacy, inclusion, health & safety, homelessness, food insecurity and more.


Managed all operations including financial oversight, good governance, government relations, fundraising and grant writing, mission and goal setting, employee management, committees, volunteer and local business engagement, social media, marketing, web, office technology and event planning.
 

Prior to current position, served as Vice President, Chair of Promotions Committee and Chair of Economic Development Committee.

Director & Past President, Allston Board of Trade, A/B Chamber of Commerce

2005 – Present 

​

As two-term Board President, led the organization through a period of over 30% membership growth and transitioned all operations to fully digital platforms, including accounting, scholarships, social media, mass email communications, web presence, online promotions and e-commerce transactions.
 

Significantly increased dues, fundraising, and individual and corporate donations for scholarship programs, neighborhood lighting, oversaw seasonal and annual fundraising and award events.
 

Over two decades participating in community Impact Advisory Groups (IAGs), representing the organization at Civic Association, Board of Appeals and other City of Boston functions, collaborating with Mayor’s Office, Department of Neighborhood Development, Department of Business Development, Department of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, as well as major community stakeholders including Harvard University, Boston University, Boston College, WGBH, New Balance, Genzyme/Sanofi, and elected government officials and representatives.
